The Wagga Wagga City Library is located within the city’s Civic Centre. It is the largest branch of the Riverina Regional Library. It is a spacious, busy facility that offers a careful balance of modern information sources and traditional print formats. This library boasts an architecture that appealed to both my photographic and information interests. It is open, and well-endowed with natural light. It is a place to sit and quietly read or engage in more vigorous information pursuits. Individuals and groups are equally accommodated within this bookspace.
I photographed this library in January 2021. It provided me with intriguing photographic challenges. I enjoyed those challenges but failed to find that image that depicts the grace of this space – it is a combination of beauty, function and longevity. There is a mix of country style and pragmatics at work in this place.
